The licensing business doesn’t exist in a vacuum.
Any experienced executive will acknowledge that there are a host of macro business, social, political and other forces that are shaping today’s licensing landscape and, perhaps more importantly, will mold the future of the business.
While it’s important to remain up-to-date on the forces at play within the licensing business, it’s also vital for any forward-thinking leader to take a step back to examine some of the bigger questions.
That’s the organising principle behind LIMA MindMix – a day of executive-level presentations and roundtable discussions that will be hosted on Wednesday, 27 June, at the London headquarters of TCC Global.
This is the third annual edition of MindMix – the first two were in Berlin and Milan – bringing together business and thought leaders around the theme “Licensing 2025” to examine the technological, social and commercial forces that will shape the future of global licensing and marketing. (The event actually begins the evening before. All MindMix participants are invited to a dinner on 26 June at Balthazar in Covent Garden.)
The day will include four formal presentations:
*Vanella Jackson, CEO of the strategic brand consultancy Hall and Partners, will address
“The Intersection of Consumer & Brand – How and Why It’s Changing”
* Stephanie Wissink, Managing Director, Research Analyst, Consumer, for the investment firm Jefferies LLC, will present a talk entitled “FutureThink: Breaking Down the Characteristics of Successful, Adaptive Companies”
* Taco Ketelaar, Co-Founder of digital content and platform creators Dffrnt Media, will give his perspective on “Adapting to Ever-Changing Platforms and Technology”
* Boris Planer, Director Go-To Market Insights at the consultancy Planet Retail, will offer forward-looking insights on “Future Disruptions in Retail – Drivers of Change”
Those promise to provide plenty of food for thought, but one of the unique aspects of the day will be a series of expert-led roundtable discussions examining both macro forces and licensing-specific topics:
“The Future of Employment in an AI World” Tim Pike, Deputy Agent, Bank of England
“The Future of Mobility” Bernd Conrad, Founder, Conrad Enterprises
“Data Protection and Brexit – Legal Questions Shaping the Future” Christian Fortmann, Trademark & Design Attorney, 24IP
“Why CSR Will Matter Going Forward” Mike Dunn, Founder, President, Octane5
“Generations Under the Influence(r)” Angela Farrugia, EVP/Group Managing Director, CAA-GBG
“Game Changer? The eSports Ecosystem” Mike Stubbs, Freelance Journalist
“Why Blockchain Matters” Casey Lau, VP Licensing & Brand, BLMP Network
“Global Trends in Consumer Attitudes and Spending” Max Templeman, Senior Insights Manager, Consumer Choices, GFK
The day will end with a cocktail reception sponsored by Octane 5.
This promises to be an exciting day of thought leadership about the future direction of the licensing business, a rare chance to help licensing professionals think about the forces that should help them mold their strategies and tactics for the years ahead.
