The Toy Industry Association has added a licensing element to next year's US Toy Fair.

The new Brand & Entertainment Showcase will run from February 12th to 15th 2012, alongside the US Toy Fair in New York's Jacob Javits Center.

The aim is to give the licensing community a chance to meet in a formalised setting at the show. Licensors will be able to take small, private meeting spaces or large, public theatres.

"Licensing has always had a presence at Toy Fair," said Marian Bossard, TIA VP of meetings and events. "TIA's new Brand & Entertainment Showcase gives these activities an appropriate platform by dedicating space, facilities and services that brand owners and licensors need to pitch their hottest ideas and properties to key decision makers, influencers and A-list journalists, who are already gathered at the Javits Center."

Last year's Toy Fair welcomed an increase in entertainment executives (up 31 per cent) and licensors (up eight per cent) and, in 2010, licensed toys represented 25 per cent of total industry sales.

"The licensing industry continues to grow and remains a vital part of the toy and youth entertainment marketplace," added Jennifer Coleman, founder of JC Inc and Showcase partner. "It's exciting to be able to offer licensors the ability to participate in a high profile industry gathering in New York City once again and as an integral part of this world renowned Toy Fair."
