LOCOG (London Organising Committee of the Olympic Games and Paralympic Games) has appointed family run Scottish firm Highlander as an official licensee for London 2012.

The 20 year-old company will produce outdoor products including picnic rugs, sleeping bags, folding furniture, blankets and range of soft luggage including bags, wallets and accessories.

Items will go on sale later this year. The London 2012 online shop launched earlier this year, with the first physical store due to open this summer.

"Over the next two years or so there will be a fantastic range of merchandise celebrating London 2012, as well as past Olympic Games, and I'm thrilled that Highlander will be helping us with this," commented Simon Lilley, head of licensing and retail at LOCOG.

"They join a fantastic team of licensees, large and small who will be creating, distributing and selling a vast range of merchandise, which will enable people to celebrate the Games coming to the UK."
