MIPCOM 08: Wallace, Gromit and Timmy rack up international sales

Aardman Rights concludes key pre-sales for both properties.

Aardman's Wallace and Gromit and Timmy Time brands have been snapped up by a number of international broadcasters at Mipcom.

Wallace & Gromit In A Matter of Loaf and Death is currently in production for BBC One at Aardman's Bristol studios with delivery expected this autumn. Broadcasters including ABC TV Australia, TF1 France, DRTV in Denmark, YLE Finland, NRK Norway, Zapp Netherlands and SVT Sweden have all signed up.

Meanwhile, the firm's first foray into the pre-school market - Timmy Time - is also proving popular. ABC TV Australia, TF1 France, DRTV Denmark, YLE Finland, NRK Norway and SVT Sweden have all committed to the broadcast rights to the show.

Currently in production, the 52x10-minute series has already been pre-bought by Cbeebies in the UK for debut in 2009 and has been picked up by Disney Channels worldwide, including the US.

"We are delighted to sign key pre-sales for our two latest animated shows at Mipcom," said Aardman's head of broadcast Miles Bullough. "We have strong broadcast partners around the world and we are hopeful that we will secure further deals for the new adventures of Wallace & Gromit and Timmy."
