Penguin has acquired the publishing rights for the new CBeebies and Sesame Workshop television series, The Furchester Hotel.

The series follows the adventures of a family of Muppet monsters who run The Furchester Hotel and features a host of new monsters alongside some Sesame favourites, Elmo and the Cookie Monster.

Penguin will now launch its own publishing programme for the series under the Ladybird imprint in summer 2015.

The range will be aimed at three to six year olds and include stories, activities, characters and novelty titles.

“We are incredibly excited to be publishing a range of The Furchester Hotel titles,” said Richard Haines, acquisitions and new business manager, Penguin Children’s.

“This new show has all the hallmarks of what makes Sesame great and I am very proud that Ladybird will extend the fun and learning to children and their families.”
