Shortlist revealed for 2008 BAAs

Aardman leading the way for nominations at the British Animation Awards.

The finalists for the 2008 British Animation Awards have been announced.

Aimed at rewarding the most distinguished creatives in the UK animation business, the winners will be crowned on March 13th at the BFI on the South Bank (National Film Theatre).

Aardman has four nominations, in the Best Children's Series, New Media: Best Commissioned Animation, Craft Award and Best Short Film categories - for Shaun the Sheep, The Peculiar Adventures of Hector and The Pearce Sisters.

Meanwhile, Charlie & Lola: Too Many Big Words (Tiger Aspect for Cbeebies), Little Princess (The Illuminated Film Company for Five) and Pocoyo (Granada Kids/Zinkia for CITV) will fight it out for Best Pre-School Series - sponsored by Hit Entertainment.

Charlie & Lola is also nominated for Best TV Special, along with The Wrong Trainers and Peter & the Wolf.
