Thorpe Park has teamed up with EMI Music/Virgin Records and rock band You Me At Six to help boost the launch of its new ride, The Swarm.
The new 'extreme' roller coaster opens to the public on March 15th. It is the UK's first winged roller coaster, built on its own island, with a purpose built church, genuine plane wreckage and a helicopter adding to the 'near miss' elements, with riders feeling as though they are going to smash into the landscape.
You Me At Six - who won Best British Band at the 2011 Kerrang Awards - will release a track called The Swarm on March 18th.
"This partnership between Thorpe Park, EMI Music and You Me At Six is a great example of how brands can work together with the music industry to create innovative content and marketing," said Rafael McDonnell, EMI Music's SVP brand partnerships, licensing and synchronisation for Europe and ROW.
"The band have written a great track and the strategic fit between the tone and feel of The Swarm roller coaster and You Me At Six makes this a perfect collaboration which benefits everyone in this partnership."
