The BTHA’s Toy Fair has signed up as headline sponsor of this month’s Licensing.biz People Awards.

The move underlines the importance of the licensing sector to the British Toy & Hobby Association and its annual international Toy Fair, according to the BTHA’s Head of Toy Fair operations and sales, Majen Immink.

Immink is also keen to speak to licensors about additional opportunities for them at Toy Fair 2016.

“The licensing sector is incredibly important to the toy industry and for next year’s event we’d like to offer a licensor the opportunity to create a bit of ‘theatre’ in the lobby area of Toy Fair.

“We’re delighted to be supporting the first Licensing.biz People Awards and wish all our friends in the licensing sector the very best of luck on the night.”

The BTHA has moved the days and dates of Toy Fair 2016 to avoid a clash with the Nuremberg Toy Fair. The event in 2016 will take place from Sunday January 24th to Tuesday January 26th. Extra opening hours are planned for the first two days, with the show opening from 8.30am to 6.30pm on the Sunday and Monday, and from 8.30am to 4pm on the Tuesday.

Over 260 companies exhibit thousands of products to visitors including retailers, buyers and others. Toy Fair space is booking fast for 2016 including exhibitors such as LEGO, Vivid, Character, VTech, Simba Smoby, HTI, Bandai, Re:creation, Golden Bear and Melissa and Doug, to name a few.

Toy Fair attracts around 400 media to press day each year, providing extensive coverage of the show, exhibitors and sponsors. 2015 attracted coverage on Sky News, Channel 4 News, BBC News, Newsround and BBC Click, Loose Women, The Wright Stuff, Radio 5 Live, The Sun, Times, Guardian, Evening Standard, Metro and Daily Mail, amongst many more broadcast, national and specialist press.

Majen Immink added: “We would love to add theatre to the visitor experience as people take their first step into Toy Fair and we think a licensor who is looking to make a splash with the toy industry in 2016 would be the perfect partner."

The Licensing.biz People Awards takes place on Thursday, April 30th at Sway Bar, London. Tickets are almost sold out, so grab yours now by clicking on this link.
