Logan has overtaken LEGO Batman as 2017’s biggest movie launch so far, grossing an estimated $80 million on its opening weekend. LEGO took $53 million for its opening weekend.
The film follows an ageing Wolverine, played for the final time by Hugh Jackman, who comes into the protection of a young mutant, along with his ex-mentor Charles Xavier who is now suffering from dementia.
The film is a more mature take on the comic book movie and is the first X-Men spin-off to be rated R in the United States (with a BBFC classification of 15), following the success of 2016’s Deadpool.
LEGO Batman currently sits at number 2 in the chart, boosted by Half term viewing figures.
