LolliBop and Southbank Centre have joined forces to create a new area for the UK’s popular children’s festival.
Join In with Southbank Centre has been developed to create an array of interactive, engaging and creative experiences for youngsters and families.
The new area will feature a Pirate Training School, a Giant Dressing Up Box, Bollywood Dance, Walkabout Whiskers and Junk Orchestra.
Meanwhile, activities designed for children under three include singalong sessions with Voicelab, Rug Rhymes from the Southbank Centre’s Poetry Library, dough modeling, soft play and baby yoga.
For older kids, there will be Big Sing workshops, hula-hoop performances, Hip Hop Dance with Zoo Nation, beatboxing and regular storyteller, Vanessa Woolf.
Kids and families will be able to create their own pop videos with Boogalu Stu, engage with musical experiences from The City of London Sinfonia, join in with craft making at The Alternative Village Fete, join the Car Boot Disco Bingo, party at the Charity Shop DJ’s Party Tent with Make and Take Crafts, order a poem at the Poetry Takeaway, and create decorations with the Crafternoon Cabaret Club.
Shan Maclennan, director of learning and participation from Southbank Centre, said: “Southbank Centre has a long and varied history of programming interactive, participatory experiences for children and their families.
“Through the infamous Imagine Children’s Festival and the busy summer wide programme, families have made Southbank Centre their second home for over 60 years.
“By collaborating with LolliBop we are excited to take this programme out on the road to a wider range of children and families and to the beautiful grounds of Hatfield House.”
LolliBop Festival will take place from August 15th to 17th at Hatfield House. Tickets are on sale now and priced from £20 plus booking fee.
