Rocket Licensing has been tapped to manage a new licensing campaign for The Edward Stanford Cartographic Collection.
In a partnership with the now iconic London map seller, Stanfords, Rocket will look to take the property into product categories including specialist equipment, apparel, accessories and more.
Rocket will look to leverage the assets of the Edward Stanford Cartographic Collection such as discovery and travel to develop a strategy that will appeal to travel enthusiasts.
Further categories under consideration include stationery, calendars, home textiles, suitcases, bags, travel games, educational toys, apps and gifts.
Established in 1853, Stanfords has enjoyed a slate of famous customers over its 160 year history including the likes of Sir Ernerst Shackleton and Michael Palin.
The mapseller is now looking to develop its collection of 800 archive maps under the Edward Stanford Cartographic Collection umbrella, together with the Edward Stanford Signature Logo into a new style guide for launch this autumn.
The Edward Stanford Cartographic Collection will have a major presence on the Rocket Licening stand at BLE, as well as at Stanford’s own stand, with initial product launches at retail expected to take place in autumn/winter 2017.
“We are thrilled to have partnered with Rocket Licensing, who shares our boundless enthusiasm for the brand,” said Tony Maher, managing director of Edward Stanford.
“Every map in the Edward Standford Cartographic Collection has a story to tell, and we are very excited to discover the tales licensees will bring to life with them.”
Charlie Donaldson, joint managing director of Rocket Licensing, added: “There are very few brands hat capture the extraordinary thrill of discovery and adventure in quite the same way as The Edward Stanford Cartographic Colleciton.
“This is a brand whose reputation and historic associations offer licensees a wealth of opportunities that will appeal to consumers young and old.”
