MacMillan Children’s Books has teamed with Moomin Characters to develop a new series of books inspired by the popular Moomins characters.
The new deal will see Macmillan Children’s Books deliver three new gift book titles for fans and families, the first of which will be published next month.
The Moomins – created by Swedish-speaking Finnish illustrator and writer Tove Jansson – first appeared in print in a book series published between 1945 and 1970.
They have now been translated in to more than 30 languages across the globe.
Stephanie Barton, publisher at Macmillan Children’s Books has said that she “couldn’t be happier to have this opportunity to be publishing this new range of gift books for families and fans, celebrating Jansson’s unique and wonderful world.”
The first title in the range, The Moomin Colouring Book, will be published in paperback in February and priced at £10.
Two more titles will follow in 2017.
In the UK, Puffin has a licence to publish a range of pre-school Moomin titles, with three lined up for release this year, including The Curious Explorer’s Guide to the Moominhouse, Moomin and the Ocean’s Song and an untitled lift and find book.
