Mario karts into Google Maps

Nintendo has rolled out a special celebration for Mario Day (Mar 10… geddit?).

Yes, the house of Mario has partnered with Google to bring gaming’s most recognisable Italian to Google Maps for one week only.

In anticipation of the mobile version of Mario Kart coming to smart phone devices this Spring, your cursor on the GPS app can now be represented by Mario himself.

Simply choose a destination and hit the ‘?’ button to add some geeky flavour to your journey. For the particularly dedicated you can mash the button 100 times to hear the famous ‘1-up’ sound from the Super Mario Bros games. For those who don’t have the time for that kind of thing, I’ve helpfully included a video of the sound below. You’re welcome.

Mario Kart 8 Deluxe was one of the highest selling games of 2017, while its home console, Nintendo Switch, has exceeded expectations, selling almost 15 million units to date.
