Masha and the Bear grows Italian footprint with Leolandia theme park expansion

Masha and the Bear is growing its Italian reach with the expansion of a dedicated area in Italy’s popular theme park Leolandia.

The new development will see the Masha and the Bear area – first opened in 2016 – grow to 10,000 square metres, marking the largest area that the park has created exclusively for one character.

It remains the first and only theme park area inspired by the series.

The area will include a themed roller coaster called Vroom boasting a 350 metre track and a height of seven metres. It will be based on an episode of Masha and the Bear in which the pair help their friend the Penguin find his way back home.

Maurizio Distefano, president of MDL, the Italian licensing agent for Masha and the Bear, said: “The Leolandia Masha and the Bear area has brilliantly captured the charm and fun of these much-loved characters for a number of years and the park has excelled itself with this new development.

“I am sure Leolandia’s new themed Masha and the Bear area will be massively popular with families all over Italy.”

Guiseppe Ira, president of Leolandia, added: “I am particularly proud to present to the public this incredible new area, unique in the world.

“This park has contributed strongly to the growth of the Masha and the Bear brand in Italy since 2016 when we created – together with Animacord – the first project dedicated to the cartoon that became a global success.

“Now, with La Foresta di Masha e Orso, we are enhancing this pioneering concept, continuing to meet – and exceed – the expectations of guests with entertainment of the highest possible quality.”
