Popular pre-school series Masha and the Bear has scooped the gong for best animation in the Creative Talent category at this year’s Kidscreen Awards.
Created by leading Russian studio Animacord, the series chronicles the adventures of a little girl called Masha and a bear who becomes her reluctant play mate.
The brand is represented by Ink Global in the broadcasting and licensing sectors, while Lisle International Licensing is the local UK representative and Animacord Corporation represents the property across the Americas.
Masha and the Bear currently airs on Cartoonito six times a day, including weekends and is one of the top three most popular shows on the channel.
“It is great that the high quality animation of the show has been recognised by Kidscreen,” said Ink Global director, Claus Tamming.
“Masha and the Bear is a show that is different from anything else out there. It is a big reason kids love it. Bringing them something fresh is one reason why the show is such a massive worldwide hit and one that as the UK embraces it further, is only going to get bigger.”
The property also boasts a growing licensing portfolio, with merchansdise set to hit the UK in the summer through partners including Egmont, Simba Dickie and Comansi.
