Mattel Creations unveils Thomas & Friends: The Great Race movie

Mattel Creations has lifted the lid on its latest CG-animated Thomas & Friends movie, The Great Race.

Arriving for television, theatrical and DVD release this summer, The Great Race will introduce 13 new engines from around the world including Axel of Belgium, Rajiv of India and Britain’s The Flying Scotsman, who is the brother of regular character Gordon.

The Great Race is set to air on PBS (US), DHX (Canada), Super RTL (Germany), Gulli (France), MiniMini (Poland), Minimax (Eastern Europe), Medialaan (Belgium) and RTL Telekids (Benelux), with many more still to be announced.

The special will also land in UK cinemas on May 22nd via distributor National Amusements, and other countries looking to follow such as Australia, Italy and China.

Products that will support The Great Race release include brand new Fisher-Price toy lines featuring 11 new engines and playsets based on the tentpole release, including the new TrackMaster Thomas Sky-High Bridge Jump Set, as well as CP and licensing deals across key categories including clothing, books, puzzles coming to retail in late summer in select markets.
