Renowned pre-school brands Barney & Friends and Angelina Ballerina are set to make their return in 2017.
Mattel, alongside it pre-school entertainment arm HIT Entertainment has partnered with 9 story Media Group to revive the hit properties in the pre-school space.
In a partnership that aims to bring the combined expertise of all organisations in order to breathe new life into the two series, development of the IP will begin immediately, with a planned launch date of 2017.
Barney & Friends originally aired from 1992 to 2009 with 248 episodes created to date, plus 25 hours of specials. The show – starring the iconic giant purple dinosaur – was championed for celebrating the life skills of sharing, community and friendship via music and cognitive learning.
Meanwhile, Angelina Ballerina originally aired from 2001 to 2006 and ran for two seasons with 39 episodes and three specials.
