Studio 100 Film has signed a deal with London based pan-European entertainment company Primal Screen to bring the Maya the Bee movie to the UK.
The deal includes all rights for the United Kingdom, the Republic of Ireland, Norway, Sweden, Denmark, Finland and Iceland and will see Maya hitting the big screen in the UK in October 2015.
Studio 100 Film has already sold the animated feature film Maya the Bee in over 160 territories so far, including North America and boasts high box office sales.
“Maya the Bee is consistently one of Tiny Pop’s most popular programmes and we are delighted that British audiences will now be able to watch their favourite character on the big screen,” commented Christophe Drevet, international consumer products director, Studio 100.
“With the support of Primal Screen, we envisage Maya the Bee becoming a cinematic hit in the UK and Scandinavia as the brand continues to gain momentum globally.”
Studio 100 International will also be working to introduce the range of Maya the Bee merchandise into the UK and Nordics markets and will be seeking new retail and licensing partners to support their programme.
Tim Grohne, CEO of Primal Screen added: “Maya the Bee is a truly endearing character having already entertained generations of children and adults. We are delighted to be partnering with the Studio 100 team to introduce Maya to cinema audiences for the very first time.”
A Maya the Bee screening, for media, retailers and potential partners, is scheduled to take place at a West End cinema on Sunday, July 12th.
