Discovery Communications has revealed that its popular Animal Planet magazine has now launched in Germany, Poland and Singapore, with further plans to move into Russia and Malaysia.

The title has already proved a hit for DC Thomson in the UK - with it notching up sales of almost 170,000 since its launch in February 2011.

The magazine has also had successful launches in Benelux, Greece and Cyprus, Italy, Austria, Switzerland and Turkey.

Discovery Enterprises International has inked deals with DeAgostini, which is on board as the official publishing partner in Russia; Mediacorp Publishing for Malaysia and Singapore; and Egmont Poland.

"We're very proud to be adding DeAgostini, Mediacorp Publishing and Egmont Poland to our stellar line-up of publishing partners for Animal Planet magazine," said Nicolas Bonard, SVP, Discovery Enterprises International. "The sales potential in the emerging Asian, Russian and Eastern European markets is significant, and the knock on effect in terms of increased consumer awareness for the Animal Planet brand and demand for the Animal Planet licensed products is potentially huge and a very exciting opportunity for the business and our international partners."
