Innovative footwear designer, Angeline Tournier, has been appointed by Start Licensing to create a limited edition range of Beano cartoon wedges.
The shoes will retail exclusively on the designer's website and have also been on display at the London Cartoon Museum as part of a dedicated exhibition.
Tournier, who launched her footwear label in 2006 with the Betty & Veronica cartoon wedge, designed the shoes with original Beano cartoon artwork imprinted on the leather on the heel.
The wedges are available in four colours: blue patent leather, red leather, silver metallic leather and black patent leather. All will feature spiky silver studs - to echo Dennis the Menace's spiky shaped hair - with silver leather lining, leather sole and a 6cm heel.
The range is limited to 70 pairs - to celebrate last year's 70th anniversary - produced across all four colours. Retail price per pair is £228.
"Beano cartoon wedges are the perfect fit for our on-going licensing strategy to enhance the bold and adventurous spirit of this iconic brand through fun and innovative products," explained Ian Downes, director of Start Licensing. "With Angeline Tournier's expertise, together with an extremely committed team at DC Thomson, we are confident The Beano fans will respond well to these highly original shoes and they will also appeal to those who want to wear something that is really exclusive."
Tournier added: "Dennis the Menace is an iconic brand and I was proud to work with DC Thomson and Start Licensing to create an original design reflecting his cheeky humour."
