With just under two months to go until showtime, Advanstar is putting the final touches to its Licensing Academy programme for 2008.
As previously announced, Magnus Scheving, the creator, CEO and founder of LazyTown, will be making the first ever keynote address. On top of this, seminars will be split into two tracks: Advanced Knowledge and Trend Forecasting.
Within the trends section, Gary Pope (director of Kids Industries) will be leading Appealing to Children in the Digital Space - Getting the Message Right; NPD's Anna Kozielec will present a special report on licensing myths and opportunities in the toy market; Oliver Dyer (MD of Skew Studio) will lead Creative and Green Licensing: Does it Wash?; while the relationship between TV and licensing will also be explored (seminar leader TBC).
Meanwhile, in the advanced knowledge section, John Burns (partner at Halliwells LLP) will use live role play to guide two parties in the advanced stages of negotiating a licensing contract; a panel debate on cross territory licensing will be lead by Anna Lisa McBride (CEO, Kidz Entertainment) with Marina Narishkin (MD, CPLG France); royalties, pricing and more licensing financial know-how will be presented by Ben Wilcox and Raj Trivedi (both PricewaterhouseCoopers); and the way forward in licensed food (seminar leader TBC) will cover strategies on how to apply the right licence to the right food and get the bottom line on European regulations about children's food.
In addition, before Brand Licensing Europe opens its doors, LIMA will hold a UK Licensing Essentials Course on Tuesday September 30th (venue TBC). This will cover the fundamentals of licensing to develop a lucrative licensing programme through a series of case studies, panel debates and presentations.
