A special breakfast session aimed at independent retailers will take place at this year's Brand Licensing Europe - called How to start or build your licensed product offering to gain retail advantage.
The seminar will run on Thursday October 1st at 9.30am and will be led by Karen Addison, MD of Karen Addison Associates. The panel will include Jeremy Ensor from the Natural History Museum, Anne-Marie Farrar from Play.com, Zara Grindrod from Rainbow Designs and Past Times' Penny Tunnell.
"Independent retailers provide the colour in what can seem a homogenous retail landscape," explained Addison. "Often based in town centres or with niche online operations, independents are where customers genuinely find something new, surprising and different from the pack.
"But striving to offer a point of difference is a constant challenge when the economic climate is tough and your competitors are hundreds of times your size. I do believe that licensing is an option in this situation and during the seminar we'll be looking at how licensors and smaller-scale retailers can work together to create opportunities in this sector."
