Further details have been confirmed for the upcoming London to Utrecht 300-mile cycle ride in aid of The Light Fund and Holland’s Wilhelmina Kinderziekenhuis Children’s Hospital Charities.

The Miffy & Friends Charity Cycle Ride Challenge is set to take place from June 30th to July 3rd - and keen industry cyclists are being urged to sign up for what is promising to be an unforgettable experience.

An all inclusive three-night package (including hotels, ferry crossing, full catering including regular rest stops) has been planned by event management company, Sports Connection. The team will be supporting the cyclists along the way and looking after their every need, including support vehicles, mechanical and medical back-up and luggage transport.

Day one of the epic Cycle Route starts at the London O2 Millenium Dome on an ether of adrenalin before the legs start to pound as the peleton pushes along the Thames heading for Folkestone where a restorative ocean hotel awaits.

Day two starts with a short ride to Dover, a ferry to Calais then back on two wheels with a steady 75 miles to Bruges.

Day three will see another stamina challenging 72 miles to Hellevoetsluis, a seaside hotel on the Dutch coast and a refreshing dip in the North Sea. Finally, day four will see the remaining 60 odd miles through the beautiful Dutch mountains and a hero’s welcome in Utrecht.

On arrival, Mercis has now confirmed a Celebration and Awards Party, which is being extended to include family, friends of the riders, as well as industry colleagues coming to Utrecht to enjoy the Tour de France activities around the city over the weekend.

The added bonus will be access to the Grand Départ start at a location accredited by Tour de France organising body, ASO - Le Quartier Francais.

Mark Teunissen of Mercis, one of the organisers of the Miffy & Friends Charity Cycle Challenge, said: ”We have been working closely with The City of Utrecht, private initiatives and the Grand Départ project management team which liaises with ASO, to make our event and the riders as welcome as possible. It’s going to be a busy and exciting weekend in Utrecht and being able to secure a special spot to watch the start of the Grand Depart is the cherry on our cake. We can sense a real buzz of excitement going through the already confirmed participants in the knowledge that this is going to be a truly once in a life-time opportunity.”

Anthony Temple of Rainbow Designs, organising partner and big supporter of the Miffy & Friends Charity Cycle Challenge, added: “The licensing community has made a name for itself as one that works hard, plays hard and is an immensely generous charity fund raiser – so the magnitude of our 300 mile charity cycle ride followed by the entertainment around this year’s Tour de France is a perfect fit for our industry.

"It’s going to be tough, we are going to be sore, but it will be exciting, great fun and amazing camaraderie along the way and at the end. For a challenge of this scale we would hope to raise a great deal of money for our charities."
