Egmont Publishing Group has bolstered its portfolio with cult video game success, Minecraft.
Minecraft is a universe where players can create and build anything they like with virtual bricks, craft tools to help gather resources, farm, hunt, sail and mine.
The game can be played in multiple modes on numerous devices and has 40 million registered users - 7.3 million of whom are paying users.
In addition, the iPhone app launched earlier this year and sold 500,000 units in two months.
Mojang is continuing to develop its licensing programme, following on its Xbox game and Lego Minecraft set.
Egmont's deal includes rights for all territories, excluding the US.

"Minecraft is a totally captivating game and we are so excited about partnering with Mojang to create compelling publishing content for their millions of devoted fans."
