The current range includes four fiction titles and a How-to Handbook and Football Sticker Book, will be published on July 6th. Each of the books will be priced at £4.99. There will also be a 2010 Annual released on August 3rd.

The fiction series, entitled Twin Trouble, Le Football, Save the Day and Bossy Boots, are aimed at boys and girls aged seven and over who enjoy football. Each book focuses on the adventures of different groups of children attending The Academy, combining the excitement of football with The Academy experience.

The activity books will include ideas for training, including pull-out tactics boards, puzzles and a statistics section to inspire the development of budding players.

David Beckham said: “I’m very pleased that The Academy has inspired this series of books, and am hopeful that it will bring more children to reading. The Academy is dedicated to the development of all those that attend and these books are a fantastic addition to its scope.”

Sam Sweeney from Egmont added: “Working with The David Beckham Academy gives us an incredible opportunity to reach young readers, including those who may normally be reluctant to pick up a book, but are passionate about football.

"These books have a broad appeal for boys and girls and combine the excitement of the game with great stories.”

The books are inspired by the training, coaching and development skills taught by The David Beckham Academy, and are not written by David himself.

As part of this licensed range Egmont is also publishing a brand new magazine: All About The David Beckham Academy. The magazine goes on sale from tomorrow June 3rd to July 7th.

The first issue will have one of the books from the new fiction series cover-mounted and will retail at £3.99. This combination of a high value cover-mount and the profile of The David Beckham Academy means the firm is anticipating a successful issue and has increased the print run to 65,000 copies.

The magazine will include top skills, tips and tactics from David Beckham; fact files on Beckham and pull-out posters.

All About is a monthly title that focuses on a different, topical subject each month. Previous titles have included Wall-E, Primeval, Numberjacks, Mister Maker and Ben 10.
