Funds roll in for Light Fund swimathon

Support and sponsorship for team moves up a gear as May Malta swim date fast approaches.
Publish date:

With around three months to go, fundraising has stepped up a gear for the Light Fund Malta swim team.

At a drinks reception hosted by TPS, Licensing Sourcebook and BBC Worldwide at the recent Spring Fair in Birmingham, team members Stephen Gould (4Kids), Ian Downes (Start Licensing), Rob Corney (Bulldog), Jane Kennedy (4Kids) and Cassie Allen (BBC Worldwide) donned costumes and robes for a bucket collection, raising £530.

Sponsorship is also key to the success of the initiative and Allsorts Licensing, Smiffy's, Character World and KJG have already offered support.

The latest company to come on board is Guinness, which will be supplying the swim team with all their kit.

Sponsorship opportunities start from as little as £75 for ear plugs, right up to £15,000 for title team sponsor.

The Maltese Island Swim is a seven day trip, with two days of travelling and five days of swimming between May 17th and 23rd 2008. It will take place in the open water around the Maltese Islands - Gozo, Comino and Malta - with a maximum team of 16 swimmers, allowing for two support crew relay relief.

The swim will raise money for official industry charity The Light Fund, with all those taking part coming from the licensing industry or charities that The Light Fund supports.

For more information on the swim, please contact Jane Garner at Kilogrammedia or Stephen Gould at 4Kids.
