Licensing.biz has thrown its support behind Brand Licensing India Conference 2008 – India’s first international licensing show – signing up to be online media partner.
The event, organised by Franchise India, will run on November 29th and 30th at the Hotel Ashok, New Delhi and is aiming to analyse the growth of the licensing industry in the country and how it is impacting on Indian retailing.
Character and entertainment licensing in particular has seen solid growth in the country in the last five to seven years. It has been estimated that market size for character and non-character licensed products in organised retail would be in the region of $3.5 billion, with consensus being that the industry is likely to grow by 15 to 20 per cent annually.
In addition, market size of the Indian retail sector was believed to be US$320 billion in 2006 and the value is expected to grow 30 per cent to 35 per cent by 2010.
The two-day conference will be made up of a number of different strands, ranging from the basics of licensing, financial and legal know-how, through to the licensing of lifestyle, fashion and corporate brands, working with agencies and consultants and trends in the Indian market.
Confirmed speakers already include Kelvyn Gardner, MD of LIMA UK; John Burns, Partner, Halliwells; Roshni Bakshi, regional director of Disney Consumer Products in India and Asia; and Shailesh Chaturvedi, CEO of Tommy Hilfiger India.
