Studio 100's Maya the Bee property is making in-roads into the Central and Eastern European marketplace, inking a key publishing deal with Egmont Kids Media.

Egmont will now develop a wide range of storybooks, activity, audio and novelty books, as well as branded magazines based on the new CGI series.

The products will be introduced to local markets when the new series is launched on TV in each territory.

"We are very excited to have Egmont on board as Maya's publishing partner for Central and Eastern Europe," said Evy Van Nederkassel, business development manager at Studio 100. "Not only are they market leaders in the region, but they share the same enthusiasm and vision for the brand as us. With the help of Egmont, Maya will entertain a whole new generation of children in CEE."

Jacek Beldowski, SVP and general manager CEE at Egmont, added: "We are eager to start working on such an iconic brand and trust that our magazine and book ranges will be successful within our market."
