Licensing.biz will have a new-look editorial team from next month, as founding editor Samantha Loveday is to leave the leading trade website.

Billy Langsworthy, currently deputy editor, will take over the editorship of both Licensing.biz and its sister title, ToyNews. Langsworthy joined Licensing.biz in July 2013 from NewBay stablemate MCV and has been instrumental in growing the website's readership.

Langsworthy will be supported by Robert Hutchins, who has been promoted from staff writer to deputy editor on both Licensing.biz and ToyNews. The new team is completed by Rhys Troake, who joins as staff writer from sister title, MI Pro.

Loveday was responsible for the launch of Licensing.biz back in September 2007 and has been the driving force in its growth from ambitious start-up to market leader. She also stepped up to become editor of ToyNews in January 2011, having worked on the magazine since 2005, growing its licensing coverage.

Loveday's last day will be Friday, July 17th.

She commented: "Watching Licensing.biz grow from just an idea through to the market leader it is today has been incredible. I am immensely proud of everything that the team has achieved since it launched - from establishing it as the go-to website for news and analysis, through to the launch of the Licensing.biz Power List and, most recently, the Licensing.biz People Awards.

"I have the utmost confidence it will continue to thrive with the new team, ably led by Billy."

Langsworthy added: "Sam has taught me close to everything I know, both in respect to the licensing industry as well as fashion advice, hairstyle tips and why you shouldn't let an iffy singing voice ever stop you belting out a tune in the office.

"I'm sad to see her go and the team will miss her massively, but we wish her every success in what I'm sure will be an exciting new venture for her.

"I'm incredibly excited to step up to role of editor on Licensing.biz and am looking forward to continuing the great work carried out on the site as well as introducing some exciting new developments moving forward with our great new team."
