Outfit 7’s new animated series Talking Tom and Friends is to be the flagship brand on Google’s new YouTube Kids app.

Launching in April, the series will follow the hijinks of Talking Tom and his group of friends as they make their own reality TV show.

The free YouTube Kids app launched yesterday across the US, available on both Android and iOS mobile devices. Designed specifically for kids, the new app offers a range of age-appropriate videos and channels, with a child-friendly interface and a parent controlled login system.

News of the Outfit 7 and YouTube Kids partnership was announced on the YouTube Official Blog and the 2015 Kidscreen Summit.

“We are thrilled to partner with YouTube on its new kids-specific initiative,” said Samo Login, founder and chief executive officer, Outfit 7 Limited.

“The new YouTube Kids app is the perfect platform for our brand new series with its cast of characters who were born in the mobile space.”

The Talking Tom franchise spans apps, games and animated shorts that currently boast 1.4 billion views on YouTube.

“Outfit 7 is a proven leader of family entertainment in the digital age,” said Malik Ducard, global head of family and learning content, YouTube.

“Together with fun, humour and friendship – elements that have contributed to the enormous popularity of the Talking Tom and Friends franchise – the new series has top-notch talent, stellar writing and engaging animation, making the animated series an obvious fit for our new kids app.”
