Egmont has snapped up the publishing rights in Central Europe and Turkey for Animaccord Animation Studios' pre-school brand, Masha and The Bear.

The deal will see Egmont roll out a line of craft, novelty, activity, editorial, colouring and gift books. It will also create stickers, a wooden puzzle and a memo game.

A magazine for Masha and The Bear will also be published in Hungary, Bulgaria, Czech Republic and Turkey.

The full line will debut in Denmark, Sweden, Hungary, Finland, Norway, Croatia, Lithuania, Estonia and Turkey.

Masha and The Bear books are already a success in Russia, with over four million books and 850,000 magazines sold in 2012.

The Russian animation has already been dubbed into French, German, English and Spanish, with each seven-minute episode including original music and songs. The series is largely played out through action with little dialogue, making it easy for children around the world to understand.
