UK children’s magazine publisher Redan has launched its own licensing division to push its brands.

Redan Alchemy LLP will represent the IP rights and in-house characters from its magazines, including primary girls mag Sparkle World, pre-schoolers’ Redan Fun To Learn, The Goblin Princess from Sparkle World, and Mik, Mak and Zak for pre-schoolers.

Third-party brands will also be represented for licensing.

Licensing veteran Michael Gottlieb has joined Redan Alchemy as CEO and will report to Redan MD Robert Sutherland. Gottlieb brings over 25 years of experience from Warner Bros Consumer Products and various TV companies. He will represent the Redan brands at this year's Brand Licensing Show.

Gottlieb said: "These are exciting times for Redan. I have had the pleasure of working with the company for many years and know from experience the benefits that come with inclusion in their top-selling character magazines.

“Redan's titles are loved by children and trusted by parents. This special relationship combined with great sales figures, creates a strong platform for launching new brands into the children's sector. In fact, Redan's best-selling titles have a far higher audience reach than many of today's satellite children's TV channels."

MD Robert Sutherland added: “Our business relies on being able to spot the hottest properties on the market and present them effectively in our magazines, so we have a strong sense of what is going to work in the children's industry and what isn't.

"We felt that it was about time we put this knowledge to good use with our own brands and characters and I'm delighted that Michael has come on board to build and develop Redan Alchemy to support our brands and those of relevant third parties in the future.”

Redan received a 2012 Lima award for Peppa Pig Magazine.
