The Light Fund is donating £80,000 to help fund 14 charity organisations across the globe.

The money, raised by the licensing industry's own charity throughout the year, will be used to support charities including The Alzheimer's Society, The Brain Tumour Society and The Catholic Blind Institute.

Founder of The Light Fund, Jakki Brown, said: "It is true testament to the generosity of those in the licensing industry and affiliated trades that The Light fund has raised such an impressive amount in 2013.

"Everybody involved should feel rightly proud that every penny from their donations from the various fundraising events this year will go on to make a difference to thousands and thousands of people's lives."

Further charities set to receive add from the Light Fund's efforts include: Addenbrooke's, Challenge Africa, The Children's Trust, Institute of Cancer Research, Joseph Patrick Trust, Macmillan, Medical Detection Dogs, MERU, MS UK, Orchid, Parkinsons UK, Rainbow Trust and Whizz Kidz.

All charities were invited to submit projects which would benefit children, men or women in the UK or overseas.

Over 70 different projects were submitted and considered by the Light Fund Committee who voted on the 10 projects they would each like to see funded with the money.

Since its formation in 2004, The Light Fund has raised over £600,000 for different charity projects.
