Universal Music has struck its first licensing deal for pre-school property Uki, signing up Egmont for publishing.

Egmont will roll out a range of books, including 10 Minute Tales, pocket library books, annuals, colouring and activity books, plus storybooks for the UK.

Uki began airing on Cbeebies earlier this year, forming part of the Show Me Show Me programme.

"We are extremely happy to have Egmont as our publishing partner," said Neil Jennings, director of business development at Universal Music UK. "Uki has a rapidly growing fan base of tiny tots and we already have parents asking when product will be available."

David Riley, MD of Egmont Publishing Group, added: "We are delighted to add Uki to our pre-school catalogue. The programme's engaging characters and bold style will translate perfectly into books."
