The annual kids entertainment event, KidScreen Summit as recruited new media and pop culture critic Douglas Rushkoff to open the conference's digital media track next month.
His keynote - The Power of ScreenAgers: Innovating For and With the Digital Generation - will take place on Friday February 13th and will aim to decode how kids use and interact with digital media and why inviting them to participate in the content development process is critical to the future of the kids industry.
Rushkoff has been studying and writing about how kids are growing up in the digital media universe for the past ten years, publishing a number of books on the subject.
Jocelyn Christie, KidScreen's director of events, said: "KidScreen Summit has a long history of bringing together experts from different areas of the kids media industry. I have no deoubt that everyone who attends the session will go away with food for thought."
This year's KidScreen Summit runs from February 11th to 13th at the Hilton, New York. In 2008, it attracted its largest ever crowd of more than 1,500 kids entertainment professionals from 43 different countries.
