DHX Media and Dentsu Entertainment USA’s new animated series Mega Man: Fully Charged is to air on the POP channels and its services here in the UK, the Republic of Ireland, the Isle of Man, Malta and Iceland.
POP – the UK’s number-one commercial kids’ broadcaster – has debuted Mega Man: Fully Charged on the new on-demand Pop app available to all PlayStation 4 console owners and will launch on the linear channel in early 2019.
The news follows the successful premiere this summer of Mega Man: Fully Charged in the US on Cartoon Network and in Canada on DHX Media’s Family CHRGD.
Meanwhile, the new Mega Man: Fully Charged toy line from JAKKS Pacific is anticipated to hit store shelves in the US in spring 2019. The global master toy line exclusively includes action figures, figurines, play-sets and accessories, role-play items, and everyday dress-up and Halloween costumes. The robust line of products is anticipated to roll out in the UK next autumn.
“As the leading commercial kids’ broadcaster in the UK, POP is the ideal platform to extend the international reach of Mega Man: Fully Charged,” said Josh Scherba, President, DHX Media.
“Our creative teams have delivered a fantastic update on the classic Mega Man, and we believe fans new and old are sure to love immersing themselves in these new adventures. With international broadcasters on board, its own YouTube channel on WildBrain, and a terrific line of toys expected next year, Mega Man: Fully Charged is poised to take the world by storm.”
Aimed at kids aged six to 11, as well as their parents who grew up with the video games, the new Mega Man: Fully Charged animated series will feature new technologies and robots, as well as the introduction of Mega Man’s alter-ego, Aki Light.
Aki is a normal, upbeat, schoolboy robot with secret, nano-core technology that allows him to transform into the mega-powered hero Mega Man. Mega Man battles the wickedest villains Silicon City has to offer. Beloved characters, such as Mega Man’s robotic dog, Rush, will return – while new characters, like Mega Mini and Suna Light, will also make their debut.
The Mega Man franchise is grounded in a series of video games, first launched in 1987 by Capcom. The Mega Man multiverse has spawned over 136 video games on multiple gaming systems, selling over 32 million copies worldwide, as well as a plethora of toys, comics and collectibles. On October 2, 2018, Capcom launched the video game sequel, Mega Man 11, available now for home consoles and Windows PC.
