Merlin Entertainment to open first CBeebies Land Hotel at Alton Towers

Merlin Entertainments is to open the first CBeebies Land Hotel at Alton Towers Resort next year.

The fully-themed hotel designed for young families is scheduled to open its doors in summer 2017 and will feature 76 rooms, its own entertainment area and restaurant.

An entertainment programme will run throughout the year with live shows, hosted activities, character meet and greets and play areas for young guests and families.

“This is another milestone n our broader accommodation strategy as we continue to seek opportunities to transform our theme parks into short break destinations,” said Justin Platt, managing director, Resort Theme Parks.

“We are delighted to build on our successful partnership with BBC Wordwide in developing this unique product that is specifically designed to appeal to the young family market and extend the CBeebies Land experience at Alton Towers.”

The announcement follows a number of recent accommodation openings at Merlin’s attractions, including the Knight’s Lodge at Warwick Castle, LEGOLAND Deutschland’s Holiday Village and Explorer Glamping accommodation at Chessington World of Adventures.

The launch of the new hotel at Alton Towers follows the 2014 opening of CBeebies Land, a successful venture for both Merlin and BBC Worldwide.

“We have been delighted with the success of CBeebies Land at Alton Towers and the new CBeebies Land Hotel fully demonstrates the BBC Worldwide Live Entertainment strategy, by extending the CBeebies experience for visitors and creating a fully immersive and interactive environment,” said Stephen Davies, director of live events, BBC Worldwide.

“The Hotel is a perfect addition to the Land, lighting up little learners and providing pre-schoolers and their families a truly magical experience that they’ll never forget.”
