Bulldog Licensing has secured two new licensing deals for the popular TV advert character, Monkey.
Aykroyds and Poeticgem have both signed with the licensing firm to produce a range of apparel featuring the character made famous by his double act with comedian Johnny Vegas.
Aykroyds will develop a line of nightwear, including pyjamas, onesies and dressing gowns, while Poeticgem will introduce a line of T-shirts for men and women.
“Everybody loves Monkey – his ads are some of the most popular on TV and this means the brand enjoys huge awareness,” said Bulldog Licensing MD, Rob Corney.
Monkey enjoys a big following from its target audience of 16 to 34 year olds and has helped PG Tips achieve more than 400,000 likes on Facebook.
The brand already has a strong presence in the apparel sector through a clothing line from BCI which has sold through high street stores including New Look and Next.
“Licensees have a fantastic platform and we are confident that both Aykroyds and Poeticgem wil enjoy considerable success with these new lines,” added Corney.
The latest licensees now join a burgeoning portfolio including Danilo for greetings and calendars, BB Designs for gift ranges and Roy Lowe and Sons for socks.
