Moomin Characters and Tatty Devine collaboration lands this week

A new collaboration between the London-based jewellery designers, Tatty Devine, and the iconic Scandi brand, Moomin Characters, has dropped this week.

The collection – which includes necklaces, earrings, and brooches – features beloved characters and design elements taken from the world of Moominvalley, created by the Finnish artist and illustrator Tove Jansson in the 1940s.

Moomintroll, Snorkmaiden, Little My will appear alongside other fan favourites to be immortalised in Tatty Devine’s signature glossy laser cut and layered acrylic. Fans will be able to adorn themselves in delicate floral motifs, hand-penned by Jansson herself. They will be digitally printed to ‘appear as though they’ve jumped from the pages of a well-thumbed Moomins book.’

The capsule collection will launch in-store and online on October 17 with a celebratory event at the Tatty Devine Seven Dials store on October 26, when celebrity nail artist Lee Moore will be in-store giving fans ‘Moomin Manicures’.

Inspired by Moore’s ornate Moomin nails created for Moominvalley actress Rosamund Pike at its premiere in Helsinki earlier this year, fans will be able to choose from a selection of Moomin-inspired colours and designs at just £10 per person.

The manicure will include lacquer nail polish and a ‘feature’ nail with a character of their choice.

Sophia Jansson, creative director of Moomin Characters and niece of Tove Jansson, said: “Moomin and Tatty Devine share a significant fan base of cool, young women who love the bright and the bold and who cherish craft, design and creative integrity.

“I know that Tove, who was herself both an artist and a businesswoman, would greatly admire what Harriet and Rosie have achieved whilst staying totally true to their own vision. We are delighted to be collaborating with them on this beautiful range.”

Rosie Wolfenden MBE and Harriet Vine MBE, the founders of Tatty Devine, added: “We have always greatly admired Tove, so to visit her studio and meet her niece Sophia was a real privilege and a source of inspiration.

“There is a natural synergy in the underlying messages of friendship and love that flow through both of our creations. We can’t wait to reveal this collection to a whole new generation of Tatty Devine and Moomins fans, and we can’t wait to wear it.”
