JELC and Over the Moon have reported that its design brand My Cat Pip has made a successful launch into the UK’s children’s publishing market.
The titles from Hodder Children’s Books are Where are You Pip? – a search and find book – two sticker books: showtime Pip! and Purrfect Pip! and a lift the flap book – Pip, Pip, Hooray!
JELC, the brand’s global licensing agency and Over the Moon, the brand’s creator have already reported great response to the titles across major supermarkets, bookshops, garden centres and online retailers.
And the partnership has already commissioned a reprint and the creation of new titles in the series, including sticker activity books and doodle books to follow later this year and spring 2014.
Following the activities of a cheeky little black cat, My Cat Pip has established a strong retail presence in the UK and around the world since the brand entered the licensing sector in 2009.
The brand now has a strong core market in greetings cards and wrap from Portico and recent launchs in plush from Aurora and plans for apparel and apps will add to a worldwide base that includes gifts, magazines, iPad skins, calendars, planners, stationery, aprons, giftware and activity books.
Karen Bendy, creative director of Over the Moon Design, said: "Not just book sales, but actual feedback from mums and children has confirmed the enormously positive response to Pip’s first appearances in books.
"Our favourite little black cat is now set for many adventures – both in book form and in a growing number of licensing categories."
Janet Woodward, joint MD, JELC, said: "My Cat Pip has always had a strong appeal to the children’s market, and the amazing success of these new books, which perfectly capture the charm, cuteness and mischief of the character in story form, will further enhance that appeal.
"Many new licensees are taking a big interest in the potential of this thriving market among children, parents and gift buyers.
"We expect to be making a number of major announcements in the course of the year."
