Students who encourage discussion about shows and movies on Twitter will receive a year's free subscription

Netflix launches Student Ambassador initiative in the UK and Ireland

Streaming service Netflix has launched a Student Ambassador program in the UK and Ireland.

The initiative will see students use Twitter to discuss movies and shows they have seen on Netflix for a chance to win a year’s free subscription.

“Students are a big part of our Netflix UK and Ireland community and we want to hear what you think about our films, TV shows and our service in general,” said Netflix.

“That’s why we’re looking for student ambassadors to champion Netflix UK and Ireland on Twitter and get people talking about our films and TV shows.”

Students who become ambassadors will be asked to pose questions and ignite discussions around different shows each week for seven weeks using specific hastags.

Ideal Ambassadors should ‘know their Battlestar from their Breaking Bad’, be dedicated Twitter users as well as sociable and active in university life.

In addition to the free Netflix subscription, the ambassador that generates the most discussion by the end of December will get a smart TV, gaming console and tablet.
