Netflix to ramp up original programming in 2016

Netflix will double its output of original programming in 2016.

Broadcasting & Cable reported that Netflix will launch 31 original shows next year, up from 16 this year.

The firm has enjoyed success with some of its own shows in the last few years, including Orange is the New Black, House of Cards, Daredevil and Jessica Jones, as well as gaining Oscar-buzz for one of its first original movies, Beasts of No Nation.

Netflix also has 10 feature films in production or about to be released, 30 kids shows, 12 documentaries and 10 stand-up specials.
