Netflix welcomes 6.74m new members in Q1 2016

Netflix welcomed 6.74m new members in Q1 2016, bringing its total subscriber base to over 81m.

US revenue grew 18 per cent year on year, while international revenue rose 57 per cent year on year, driven by the fact that Netflix launched in 130 new countries at the start of the year.

42% of Netflix’s total membership base is now outside the US and the firm credited its positive start to year down to the launch of shows like Making a Murderer, Fuller House, House of Cards season four and Daredevil season two.

Looking ahead, Netflix is debuting Voltron: Legacy Defender in June, Home: Adventures with Tip and Ho in July, Marvel’s Luke Cage in September while a Stretch Armstrong show is set to air next year.
