New Charlie and the Chocolate Factory production to hit Broadway in 2017

Warner Bros. Theatre Ventures has detailed its plans to launch a new broadway adaptation of Roald Dahl’s Charlie and the Chocolate Factory.

The musical production is slated for a 2017 release and has been attached to Hairspray and The Coast of Utopia director, Jack O’Brien.

The project will see O’Brien reteam with Hairspray song writers Scott Wittman and Marc Shaiman alongside famed choreographer Joshua Bergasse who has worked on productions such as Smash and On the Town.

The on stage musical will be a rebooted production of the Sam Mendes-directed musical that has been playing in London’s West End since 2013.
