Eighth book in series to be released in the UK and other major territories.

New Diary of a Wimpy Kid due in November

The eighth book in the Diary of a Wimpy Kid series will launch in the UK in November, as part of a major global release.

Abrams revealed at the Bologna Children’s Book Fair this week, that its Amulet Books imprint will join forces with seven publishers around the world for the global release of the book by Jeff Kinney.

It will hit the US in November, with the UK, Australia, Germany, Greece, Japan, Korea and Norway following just after the debut.

An original new image by Kinney – featuring Greg Heffley under an umbrella being bombarded by raining Magic 8 balls – was revealed to tease fans.

"2012 was a huge year for Wimpy Kid and now with an eighth book from Jeff we can look forward to an equally fantastic 2013 for the biggest children’s book brand," said Francesca Dow, MD at Penguins Children’s Books. "In 2012, Diary of a Wimpy Kid: The Third Wheel was the fastest selling Penguin Children’s book ever, selling one copy every 3.7 seconds."

The series has sold more than 85 million copies worldwide.
