Book traces the origins of the Empire's ultimate weapon, from concept to top secret project.

New Haynes manual unveils secrets of the Death Star

Ever fancied finding out exactly how the Empire’s iconic Death Star actually worked?

Well now you can, from its superlaser down to its tractor beams, thanks to Star Wars: Death Star: Owner’s Workshop Manual from Haynes.

Published on November 7th, and priced at £16.99, the manual traces the origin of the Death Star, from concept to a top secret project that began before the foundation of the Empire, which drew design inspiration from the Trade Federation’s spherical warships.

The Death Star’s on-board systems and controls are explained in detail, and are illustrated with a range of computer-generated artwork, floor plans, cutaways and exploded diagrams. These have been created by artists Chris Reiff and Chris Trevas – the same creative team behind the Millennium Falcon Owner’s Workshop Manual. Text is by Ryder Windham, author of more than 50 Star Wars books.

The manual is fully authorised and approved by Lucasfilm.
