Kicking off the 2015 international leg of its 40th anniversary concert tour, legendary rock band KISS continues to fuel interest among global licensing partners, with Epic Rights inking a multitude of new licensing agreements across Pac-Asia.
With the international leg of the KISS 40th Anniversary World Tour kicking off in Japan in February, Epic Rights has signed multiple licensing partners in territory. These include Good Speed Inc. (KISS fashion apparel and accessories); Hysteric Glamour (high-end KISS t-shirts, jackets and jewelry); and Isshindo Honpo Co. (KISS inspired Kabuki face masks).
Additionally, Mr. Hirokuni Sobukawa is creating limited edition KISS Calligraphy pieces, while the Mitsui Agency will publish unique Ukiyo-e art posters incorporating the iconic imagery of KISS. Ukiyo-e (Ukiyo means ‘now’ and e means ‘print’) is a traditional Japanese art form that combines 400 year old techniques for illustration, wood-carving and hand-printing.
Additional licensees have been secured in the Pac-Asia region. Scandinavian Travel Innovation AB, known for its leatherworks, has produced KISS luggage for fans in Japan, Korea and Australia, while Licensing Essentials will create KISS apparel and an array of branded products for the Australian and New Zealand markets.
“Unveiling these new partnerships at the same time KISS is touring in the region provides our new KISS licensing partners in Asia and Australia with additional exposure and added consumer awareness,” explained Juli Boylan Riddles, EVP, global strategic partnerships & licensing, Epic Rights.
“KISS has always inspired the creation of unique merchandise influenced by their theatricals and creative visuals for which they are known the world over, and our new partners are utilizing the iconic KISS imagery to create distinctive products from Kabuki masks to limited edition calligraphy pieces, which truly speak to the authenticity of KISS.”
In 2014, KISS celebrated major milestones: celebration of their 40th anniversary with a national tour; induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame; the launch of their inaugural LA KISS Arena Football League season, bringing professional football back to Los Angeles; the AMC premiere 4th and Loud, a new prime time docu-series; and ending a banner year with a performance in the 88th Annual Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade.
This year will see KISS launch their international tour across Europe, Asia and South America, while Epic Rights will also be launching a social media campaign targeting the 13 million plus KISS Army Fans.
