Nickelodeon to develop animated series based on video game property

Fred Seibert of Frederation Studios has revealed that Nickelodeon is working on an animated show based on a classic video game, in a podcast uploaded to Nickelodeon’s YouTube channel.

“We have a project now that we’re doing that needs to go unnamed, based on one of the most world famous video games of the last 30 years, that we’ve had in our shop for twelve years without being able to get it started," explains Seibert. "But there were great characters and a great story, and eventually we got it going.”

Frederator Studios, the studio behind hit show Adventure Time has held the rights for Nintendo’s video game franchise Castlevania for at least a decade, leading many to speculate that this may be the license Seibert was referring to. An interview back in 2015 in with producer Adi Shankar also revealed that he was working on an animated miniseries based on Castlevania with Frederator Studios.
