No more officially endorsed Star Wars parodies coming from Family Guy

There will be no more Family Guy Star Wars parodies, the creative team behind the Fox show revealed at this year’s San Diego Comic-Con.

The show ran three Star Wars specials – Blue Harvest (2007), Something, Something, Something Dark Side (2009) and It’s A Trap (2010) – and each was officially endorsed by Lucasfilm, who went as far as to tease Blue Harvest at a Star Wars Celebration event.

The only condition Lucasfilm set was that the characters had to look exactly like they do in the movies.

When asked if Family Guy was preparing a take on Star Wars: The Force Awakens, it seems Disney’s ownership of the brand is bringing an end to the parodies.

“The new regime is a little more difficult to deal with,” said Family Guy executive producer Alec Sulkin.

“Before we were just dealing with Lucasfilm. Seth [MacFarlane] had a good relationship with them. It’s not that Seth has a bad relationship with Disney, but they’re a bit more rigid.”

Rich Appel, executive producer, added: "They’re a little more careful now that they’re rolling out new movies.”
