Collectable cardboard toy robots, OiDroids has been crowned the champion of BLE’s 2015 License This! competition.
Aimed at the pocket money sector, OiDroids features a cast of quirky characters, created by toy inventor Jonathan Klemenz.
Klemenz’s collection of cardboard characters fought off tough competition from three other properties to make the License This! final, held at Brand Licensing Europe on Thursday, October 15th.
Fellow finalists included Natu Natu, an eco-friendly, cross media project following a gang of fantastic creatures, presented by Fran Bravo; Victoria Spunge, an animation series about Victoria Spunge and her visits to her inventor Grandpa, presented by Stuart Simpson; and Wussywat a 2D animated Clumsy Cat currently airing on CBeebies, presented by Simon Quinn and Simon Rolph.
As winner of the 2015 challenge, OiDroids will now receive a fully furnished stand at BLE 2016 worth over £6000, along with LIMA membership for one year and one ticket to LIMA Licensing Essentials Course & Spring Fling Networking Party in May 2016.
Chair of the 2015 License This! judging panel, Kelvyn Gardner, managing director, LIMA UK, said: “Four fantastic properties, and each one should be a licensing success.
“It was hard to pick a winner, but we took into account the competitive nature of the sectors represented and felt that OiDroids had the edge. Congratulations to a worthy winner.”
Klemenz added: “I am so excited to have won against such strong competition, and am looking forward to bringing the property to Brand Licensing Europe 2016.”
